Trustees are locally elected officials who must work closely with the schools and the community to ensure students and community needs are being met. TDSB trustees represent electors in the public school system within the City of Toronto. They typically help guide policies, assist with the budget, appoint directors of education, make staffing decisions and act as a liaison between the provincial government, schools and the communities.

The next municipal election is Monday, October 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
However:
Advance voting is Tuesday, October 6 to Sunday, October 11, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN TORONTO’S 2026 MUNICIPAL ELECTION, YOU MUST BE:
a Canadian citizen; and
at least 18 years old; and
a resident in the city of Toronto; or
a non-resident of Toronto, but you or your spouse own or rent property in Toronto; and
not prohibited from voting under any law.
You may only vote once regardless of how many properties you own or rent in Toronto.
You must vote in the ward where you live.
TO VOTE IN TORONTO, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SHOW IDENTIFICATION WITH YOUR NAME AND TORONTO ADDRESS.
